The Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Edition helps mark 75 years since the company made its first appearance on an auto show stage. And check out that color!

It’s been 75 years since the very first Land Rover showed up at the Amsterdam Auto Show. The birth of a legend, the Series 1 was a British answer to the American Jeep, but quickly became much more. Used around the world by farmers, loggers, NGOs, loads of emergency services, and — of course — suburbanites. To help celebrate, Land Rover is making a special edition of the successor to that model, the Land Rover Defender.

The Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Edition’s highlight is the Grasmere Green paint — a new color only offered on the 75 editions of the Defender. The color is very close to the light green that was featured on SNX 910, the number plate of the Land Rover Series 1 that stood proudly on the stage in 1948.

Land Rover painted the 20-inch wheels in the same color, with matching wheel centers giving the 75 Defender a very cool monochromatic appearance. However, the unadorned steel-wheels Land Rover showed in design sketches for the special edition would have been pretty cool, too.

You can find the green on the inside, as well. Land Rover has painted the bar that runs across the dashboard in the same shade. Laser-etched details on the cross beam and its end caps are another little perk of the 75th Limited Edition.

The model will be offered in two-door 90 and four-door 110 body shapes. The new Defender 130 won’t be included in the mix. Land Rover will include a folding fabric roof as standard on the limited edition models — another nice touch.

You’ll only be able to get the package with one powertrain: Land Rover’s P400 system, a 3.0L inline-six with 48V mild hybrid tech. It makes 395 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, with an eight-speed automatic and 4×4 drive.

The Defender 75 Years will come well-equipped, including 3D Surround Camera, Configurable Terrain Response, Meridian audio, premium LED front lighting, 11.4-inch Pivi Pro2 infotainment system, Head-Up Display, Wireless Device Charger, and 14-way power-adjust front seats are included, along with a heated steering wheel, and three-zone climate control system.

Along with the Defender 75, Land Rover will sell a line of 75 Years gear in its Lifestyle Collection. The line will offer a watch, backpack, and clothes with the 75 Years graphics.

It’s unclear how many Land Rover Defender 75th Limited Editions will come to the U.S., but we’re not expecting a lot. We’re also waiting for pricing, but the models should come in at around $90,000.
